Wii vs PS3: System Comparison

By: Martin G. Williams

When considering a Wii or PS3, there are several different factors that you would need to consider before you purchase one of the consoles. The most important things for one to consider before making a large purchase like this are the hardware quality and the system's online capabilities and support.

The Nintendo Wii System

A couple of strong factors you should take into account when comparing Wii vs PS3 are the hardware and online gaming capabilities of each system. The processing power of the Wii is not one of its strongest points, however, it has one of the most innovative control mechanisms to be invented since the joystick. Nintendo keeps the hardware behind the functionality a closely guarded secret and in doing so, keeps the competition guessing for what is a truly unique controller design. It takes skill to master the controller but the bonus for expert gamers looking for a new challenge will be the price. The price is low, the Nintendon Wii is a great system and hard to pass up.

The online Plan for the Wii is not satisfactory. Like the PS3 its going to be a free service but with far fewer games. It will be harder to laocate friends online as you will need to enter a friend code. The PS3 service is much better.

The Sony PS3

In a comparison between the Wii and the PS3, the PS3 clearly emerges the winner. It is unquestionably the most technologically advanced gaming console in today's market. Its CELL chip allows for customized processing, which may be more difficult for game developers, but gives gamers truly excellent views on multiplatform games. The device's potential makes it somewhat more costly, but renders it the leader in its field.

The PS3 features the best online plan available today in gaming systems. There is no comparison between the Wii's online plan and that of the PS3. The PS3 is clearly superior. It provides plenty of games, allows online purchases, and provides a venue to network with other gamers worldwide. Most games are available in some aspect online, and there is no cost involved.

Make an informed choice, as there is an equal number of pros and cons to take into account before making the final decision. Only you can judge which of the systems available would be more suitable for you.
